Cub Scout Units are called Packs, E.g. Pack 104.
Cub Scout Packs group youth by age into Dens, E.g. Den 6.

  • Kindergarten youth are in Lion Dens.
  • 1st Grade youth are in Tiger Dens.
  • 2nd Grade youth are in Wolf Dens.
  • 3rd Grade youth are in Bear Dens.
  • 4th Grade youth are in Webelos I Dens.
  • 5th Grade youth are in Webelos II (Arrow Of Light) Dens.

Note: The title Webelos is not a plural, it is an amalgamization of the term We'll be loyal Scouts. We be lo s => Webelos.

Cub Scout Dens are recommended to have no more then 8 youth so some Cub Scout Packs have more than one Den per age group. Some Cub Scout Packs combine Dens for smaller age groups.

As you know, Scouting has opened the program up to girls!

The decision to allow girls to join a Pack rests with the Unit's Charter Organization. At this time boys and girls will be in their own gender specific Dens. Packs CAN have both Boy Dens and Girl Dens, these Packs will be referred to as Co-Gender Packs. If a Pack is made up of Only Boy Dens it will be called a Boy Pack. Conversely if a Pack is made up of Only Girl Dens it will be called a Girl Pack.

Please go to to contact the Cub Scout Packs in your area for further information about their meetings, activities, makeup, and the Den that your son, or daughter, would fit into.

If you are a member of your Cub Scout Pack's Key 3 (Committee Chair, Cubmaster, COR) these are the steps to edit your unit's "Be A Scout" listing on

  1. Log into your account at My.Scouting.Org
  2. Goto Legacy Web Tools and select “BeAScout”
  3. Choose “unit” (rather than council) under “Unit Pin Mode” to update the pin with your contact info.
  4. Be sure to set pin status to “active.” If they want the “Apply Now” button on the pin, set “Apply Status” to “active.”
  5. Note that it may take a few hours, or up to overnight, for the updated information to show up.

For Cub Scout packs: You’ll also want to go to Organization Manager and identify your pack’s gender: all-boy, all-girl or a mix of all-boy dens and all-girl dens. Under Organization Manager, find the settings tab and scroll to the bottom of the page. The default is Boys Dens, but you can change that. Be sure to enter an effective date or it will not update the pin.
