Klondike Derby

We are sorry to have to cancel this year's Klondike Derby.  Due to increased COVID rates and the small space at Kinder Farm Park, we have decided it is in the best interest of our scouts to cancel.  We are looking into seeing if our units can participate in National Pike's Derby.  It will be held the same day, but they have a much larger space and are better able to keep teams more spread out.

In the mid-1800's close to 400,000 pioneers embarked on a 2,170 mile journey west into unknown lands.  Along their journey they faced many challenges that put their skills to the test - from cooking meals, setting up camp, tending to medical needs, to crossing rivers and finding their way through an unfriendly wilderness.  Get your sleds ready to embark on a journey of your own, filled with challenges not unlike those faced by the pioneers of the past.

The 2022 version of the Four Rivers District Klondike Derby will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Kinder Farm Park.

The Klondike Derby is a day-long competition for Scouts BSA Patrols and Webelos Dens held in mid-Winter as a challenge to preparation and teamwork.  This year we'll be running one loop, but with specific activities for Scouts and Webelos.

Klondike involves challenge stations designed to test the Scouts’ knowledge of skills ranging from first aid to problem solving, and everything in between. But the greater challenge is to dress and prepare for whatever the weather offers.  We’ve held successfully Klondike Derbies in 9 degree temps with a foot of snow on the ground!

Webelos and Arrow of Light Dens, Scouts BSA Troops, and Venturing Crews - mark your calendar for Saturday, January 22, 2022 for the next edition of the Four Rivers District Klondike Derby. This year's event lead is Mr. Greg Shinn direct questions to him at 4riverskd@gmail.com.

Registration is online and leader/staff guide is now available.
